Adding to the spring sweater/crafty update theme…this is not actually a sweater, but an old (stained) t-shirt that I repurposed into a shrug.  I found these instructions from Cut Out + Keep a while back and decided to try them out.  I love the result, but it’s been hiding in my closet ever since.  The cold New England winter just wasn’t inspiring me to wear a short-sleeved cotton shirt.

However, the above-freezing temperatures and plethora of fashion magazines highlighting spring looks have convinced me that’s it’s time to pull out my forgotten items.  And once I got this one out, I was reminded that some of my favorite clothes and accessories are either homemade or home re-made.  Maybe I will follow la’s lead and add a few embellishments this season to prolong the life of my old clothes and stretch the library-internship salary.  In the meantime, here’s another resource on remaking sweaters for spring from the Threadbanger blog.
