Well, business here at Archival Allure has been a bit slow, apologies all around. Maybe it’s the heat, maybe it’s my new found habit of hitting the snooze button six times then leaping out of bed only to change my outfit 3 times. Of course, the truth is that I don’t actually see any one all day (except when I crash the conservator’s morning break) so my dress motivation has been a bit low of late.

Summer dressing in a library or archive can be quite a challenge. Trudging into work, overheated with my hair’s frizz factor high enough to send a hygrothermograph needle into orbit, I arrive in my office where I’m lucky if the temp rises above 64 degrees - and RH if you must know, is in the 60s, my my! Luckily, I keep a truly giant sweater at work for emergencies.
Tired of my dressing funk, I woke up a full 35 minutes before I had to leave for work in order to work out what to wear. Taking my inspiration from Mary Tyler Moore, I chose some slim black trousers (Recently made slimmer due to a laundry faux pas - but I can’t complain. Better to have a boyfriend who occasionally launders the wrong thing than one who never launders at all!) and a nice light weight button down. While I believe that the fitted blouse has it’s place, I do love the feel of a nice unstructured cotton blouse! Cool in the heat, but fully covered in the sun!
*Please note, my photographer had to work late tonight, thus I was forced to create a precarious camera stand consisting of a laundry basket and board games stood on end. This is my only excuse for the shoddy photo quality and odd expression.
